Kindy begins

And oh my gosh did our little girl love it! I suspect that some of her sleepless nights of late have been due to her being not only excited about kindy but also nervous at the same time. I think she may have been having a few little worry sessions

Last night before bed we talked about how it was her last sleep before she started kindy and she told me she wanted scrambled eggs for breakfast. It took a bit for her (well, both of them actually) to settle but then she had a wonderful night's sleep and woke around 7 this morning. Perfect - I was just getting out of the shower when she got up and it saved me having to wake her again!

One of the first things she said to me was that there were no more sleeps until kindy so I took a photo of her crossing off the last sleep on her countdown calendar *wub*

We then got onto making scrambled eggs and she had to help by "whiskering" the eggs. She then surprisingly ate a very good breakfast and started to get ready. I'm so glad I allowed plenty of time because she kept getting distracted by her excitement! We did have a moment of unhappiness when I did her hair - she didn't want it all tied up together but I reminded her again, as I had been doing the last few weeks in preparation for kindy, that her hair had to all be tied up for kindy and then nan told her how pretty she looked so she was fine!

We had plenty of time to pose for photos (which I will have to upload later) and then it was time for us to go.

Our arrival time was perfect as another little girl that she knew from playgroup arrived at the same time and we all walked in together. I think that may have made it easier on them both. I spent about half an hour then and then while A was doing a puzzle I told her that I'd be leaving when she finished that puzzle. A minute or so later I told her she just had 3 pieces to go and she responded with "then you can go" all matter of fact and unconcerned.

She finished the puzzle and I made a break for it. I'm so proud of myself - no tears as I had expected. I actually felt really proud of A and how happy she had been to stay there by herself but also knew she would be looking forward to us all going back to pick her up.

Pick up time today was 11.30 and I took nan and G with me to meet A. She was just so happy. SHe'd had a wonderful morning and has talked about it heaps since. She did lots of craft and drawing and had a play outside. Her teacher and teachers aid are both really lovely and had been floating around talking to all the kids with their parents during the free play period. I'm really looking forward to Thursday now because I know how much A loved it. We've been talking about when she goes again and then the week after that she goes for longer and more days. I told her it was Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and she responded with "and Friday and Saturday" When I told her it wasn't those days she went "dooohhhhh" *giggle*

So a very long and rambly way of saying that our little girl loves kindy. I hope the love of it continues for a long time

And it would seem that G loved being an only child for the morning too! She was so funny and cute. I can see her being the class clown when she gets to school
