Wednesday afternoon saw us visiting a friend who did a maternity shoot for me. It was a wonderful giggly, chatty session with her asking me what I wanted and me asking her what she wanted. Not much help to each other really but it was lots of fun. I'm looking forward to seeing the outcome of it all and how she went with the major issue.... me having to wear glasses! I've learnt a few things from it though - a photographer's eye will notice that you don't iron and its way more fun to be bossed around than to make decisions for yourself! LOL
Wednesday night was wonderful with my blessingway/baby shower. A lovely group of 6 of us at a wonderful friend's house. Her hubby even popped in and out a few times. It was such a nice evening of chatting, munching and drinking. I feel very lucky to have such a great bunch of friends. One of them even did a henna tattoo on my belly amidst the giggles and movement of Bub. She had quite a job at times with her moving target but did an amazing job.
Just home after having it done

I ended up driving home with my shirt tucked up into my bra so that the henna could dry. As I was leaving someone wished that I would be pulled over by a booze bus or the like but sorry to disappoint, it didn't happen! I'm also glad that hubby's friend had left before I got home as I would have felt a bit uncomfortable walking into my house with my guts hanging out if he'd been here!
I left a trail backwards and forwards through the house as I got up and down overnight from the henna crusting off and the bed was full of it! Hubby had to vacuum the next day and we also had to change sheets as it just felt scratchy!
With the crust removed the next day

And two big girls cuddling their baby

Thursday saw me meeting my secondary midwife for the first official time. She was lovely but it wasn't the same as my meetings with my primary midwife. Those meetings are long and chatty where as this one was more to the point although nice all the same. Its not like she was rude or anything, I guess its more about having a rapport with my primary (and my student midwife). It was nice to meet her and to go through her role for the delivery and she made an impression on hubby with her parting comment. It was something along the lines of "birth beautifully" which to me just sounds so peaceful and perfect
The outcome of the visit was that my BP is still fantastic 100/60 this week and at that point of the day Bub was 3/5 above. Earlier I had been driving and found it quite uncomfortable as Bub felt really high but obviously in the hour between driving and being palpated Bub had moved down! It will be interesting to see what next week brings. I've had some slight swelling but difficult to judge also as I'd not long before they arrived washed the dishes in quite hot water so my hands swell with that anyway
I'm a little but not a lot closer to being organised for this one's arrival. I'm nearly 37 weeks pregnant and as yet have done nothing towards getting clothes ready! At the moment I think they are stuffed in a box and/or in a drawer and will need to be washed before they can be used. I'm planning that to happen the week before I'm due! Hopefully nothing happens between now and then as hubby will be away until the 27th anyway
I have finally bought some small bits and pieces for delivery and post delivery - arnica, a sieve *giggle* and some maternity pads. I need to remember to get some aloe vera from my bro and SIL to put in the freezer ready to go and also arrange the car seat. We are planning to borrow their turnatot but its down at mum's for now and I'm not sure when she'll be back up and we're unlikely to go down. I'm currently considering other options that may result in us being able to keep all three kids in the second row for the time being at least
I've had a terrible week for sleep but am not sure whether it is the result of having so much on that I can't clear my mind or discomfort from pregnancy. Its most likely a combination. I do have the bed to myself again from tonight so will see if that makes a difference!

Hey Raels - my official edd is Sunday and I've not done anything with clothes, etc either - you have HEAPS of time! rofl
ReplyDeleteThe tattoo looks awesome, glad to hear you had a good time.
ReplyDeleteIf you get really stuck we have a capsule you can borrow.
